I've never seen such a large chandelier.
As I'm looking in the newscast inbox.
I saw the biggest chandelier I think I've ever seen in my life yesterday.
Where is this chandelier from?
This enormous chandelier is in the residence of the Russian ambassador, Andre Kellen, and I went to interview him yesterday and the interview will be shown on BBC1 at 9 o'clock tomorrow morning.
But along with the parallel universe of speaking to a representative of the Russian government in 2024 is the extraordinary physicality of just going to a place like that, where the chairs are painted in gold, the paneling is painted in gold, the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling are sort of the size of a mini car.
It's an extraordinary sort of sensation just even to go to a place like that, entering into the most sort of rarefied diplomatic quarter of a country that is isolated.
So, you know, going to embassies, going to residences, normally you'd go in and it's sort of quite friendly and, ah, yes, lovely to see the BBC.
Here you come and you go and you speak to people often for, you know, briefings and conversations, or you go in for an interview and it's all very sort of welcoming.
Going into an embassy where there are very difficult relationships between the two countries is quite sensation.
Even the furniture is designed to project power completely.
Yeah.
I mean, this.
It's got this advantage of the revolution, isn't it?
