The GOP's first-ever midterm convention concluded in Dallas last night with Vice President J.D. Vance taking center stage.
Crowds chanted "J.D. 48" as he spoke, a nod to the upcoming presidential race.
His speech was in part personal, reflecting on themes of fatherhood
and on the assassination of his friend, the conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
He said his job was to fight for every family as if they were his own.
But it was also political.
Vance touted the administration's record on immigration and taxes,
and he targeted Democrats in key midterm races,
