Hello everyone and welcome to EnglishPod.
My name is Marco.
My name is Catherine and today we have a very dramatic intermediate level lesson for you.
That's right.
Today we're going to take a look at how a court works, for example, in the United States.
So you see that in movies and TV shows a lot, you know, the judge and all that.
That's right.
Many of you have seen the movie The Firm or Twelve Angry Men.
These are classics in courtroom drama, as we say.
So today we're in a courtroom.
And there are many characters who are trying to determine if this person is innocent or guilty.
So let's take a listen and find out what's going on.
Your Honor, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, my client, Robert Malone, has been accused of a crime he did not commit.
The prosecution has accused my client of being a pickpocket.
I know we have heard the testimony of many people here today,
people who claimed the defendant, my client, stole their wallets.
I feel sorry for these victims.
I really do.
But my client is innocent.
