单集简介 ...

Haiku poems communicate a lot of ideas, thoughts and feelings into just a few simple words. They can be moving, humourous or meditative, and reading haiku in English allows you to learn vocabulary in a very interesting way. In part 1 I talked about the form and history of haiku, and read out various short poems in English from both Japanese writers and modern English ones. In part 2 here I finish reading my haiku selection, including many written by English-language haiku master John Stevenson. Listen to each one, consider the different meanings and interpretations and also learn specific words and phrases to expand your English vocabulary. • which that episode was called Haiku in English.

  • Very imaginative stuff.

  • Yeah, so I did part one of this in February and I had to abandon the first part of this because if you remember,

  • there was the noise of drilling and hammering from next door, which has been very annoying recently.

  • They've been replacing all the windows in the rooms next to mine here.

  • On the top floor of this building, and it's been very annoying.

  • I've had to cancel several episode recordings.

  • Hopefully they won't be doing it today, but that's what caused me to abandon part one of this.

  • But now the sounds of silence have returned.

  • Offering me space to come back to this zen-like topic, which does demand a certain amount of peace and quiet.

  • So let 's continue then and finish off the haiku in English episode that I started a few months ago,
