Hello.
After six years of hearings, the inquiry into the Grenfell Tower fire delivered its final report today.
Why did 54 adults and 18 children die in a blaze which, in the words of the chair of the inquiry, Sir Martin Moore Beck, was avoidable?
The simple truth is that the deaths that occurred were all avoidable, and those who lived in the tower were badly failed over a number of years and in a number of different ways by those who were responsible for ensuring the safety of the building and its occupants.
And Sir Martin's findings will be the focus of this episode of.
Newscast, newscast, newscast from the BBC.
Hello, it's Adam in the studio, and we're going to spend the whole episode digesting this huge report from the inquiry into the Granfell Tower fire.
This is actually the second report.
The first one came out a couple of years ago and focused on a sort of timeline of what actually happened that night in June 2017, a night will just all remember forever.
What happened today was the much fuller findings about what went wrong, who's to blame, who was involved, and a set of recommendations to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.
So let's dive into it now.
Chris is on the line.
And, Chris, you're just a stone's throw away from the tower at the moment.
Yeah, we are in the beer garden, actually, of a pub.
It's called the pig and whistle.
And I'm conscious, you know, given the gravity of what we're talking about, because as I look up to my right from the kind of bench that we're sitting at, there is Grenfell Tower, with the Grenfell forever in our hearts there, the big green heart.
And you'll be able to hear in the background that obviously, this is a thriving local community that is going about its usual thing on a Wednesday evening.
And so there's people at the next table with pints and glasses of wine and having a, you know, a jolly time after work, as would happen in any bar.
So I'm conscious of that sort of disjuncture, if you like, between the tenor and tone of our conversation and the environment in which we find ourselves.
