  • With more young people experiencing hearing loss at an alarming rate, its time to listen up and address how we can protect our precious sense of hearing.

  • So lets first do some fact check.

  • How serious is hearing loss in China and around the world?

  • First of all, globally now, over 80% of year and hearing care needs remain met.

  • And according to WHO data, about 1.5 billion people have some degree of hearing loss now.

  • And by 2050 the number could really increase to 2.5 billion people and over 5% of the worlds population.

  • Thats also about 430 million people require rehabilitation to address their disabling hearing loss.

  • And also this number will increase to over 700 million people.

  • Thats about one in every ten people in the year of 2050.

  • And now in China, according to the second national Sample survey of people with disabilities, roughly 27.8 million people in the country suffer from hearing impairment.

  • So that is the basic picture of how hearing loss is severe both in China and also globally.

  • Yes, hearing loss is a real issue and we as human beings are likely to face it in a really, really old elder age.

  • Well, the older you get, the higher the possibility of you encountering the situation, which is why we're trying to prolong the time and also protect our hearing ability.
