President Trump is going to campaign in Alaska today.
Last night, he was trying to encourage Ohio Republicans to support
GOP gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and incumbent Republican Senator John Huston.
NPR's Danielle Kurtzleben says Trump has been stumping in mostly red states.
For candidates who are in close races.
It's striking.
Trump is out campaigning for others, but these rallies are so much of Trump being Trump.
The insults, the crassness, using a swear word or two.
It all just emphasizes that the GOP is still his party, even while his approval continues to sink.
So you got to wonder, for a candidate like Ramaswamy or Houston, what's the return here on appearing with Trump?
NPR's Danielle Kurtzleben reporting.
New White House Press Secretary Katie Zachariah is expected to hold her first briefing today.
Zachariah is an attorney and a conservative commentator.
NPR's Brian Mann reports she has drawn scrutiny for amplifying conspiracy theories.
Katie Zachariah has worked and served on the advisory boards for conservative and anti-abortion organizations.
She also appears often as a guest on right-leaning outlets, including Fox and News Nation.
After appointing her, Trump praised Zachariah's loyalty to himself, describing her as a devoted fan.
Writing on social media, Zachariah said working for Trump would be the honor of a lifetime.
