单集简介 ...

Living on campus has long been a standard part of university life in China, but that is now starting to change. Instead of staying within campus walls, many students are moving into residential buildings, as universities across the country buy or lease existing apartments and convert them into student dorms. For the students, it means perks like balconies and round the clock hot water. For the people already living in those neighborhoods, it is a different story, and the feelings are mixed. So what actually happens when a wave of university students moves in next door? On the show: Fei Fei, Steve & Yushan

  • Discussion keeps the world turning.

  • This is Round Table.

  • Coming up: living on campus has been part of uni life here in China

  • and many students are seeing a shift today.

  • They might be moving outside of the campus

  • and into a residential area nearby

  • because universities across the country are buying or leasing existing apartments,

  • converting them into student dorms.

  • But as students enjoy balconies and 24-hour hot water, their new neighbors have quite mixed feelings.

  • So what happens when university students move into your neighborhood?

  • What comes to mind when you hear the words university dorm?

  • Well, for me at least, it means a tiny room,

  • many bunk beds, a shared bathroom,

  • and the eternal question of who should clean the room today.

  • But wait, what if your university dorm

  • looked more like a private apartment:

  • your own bed, a balcony, air conditioning,

  • hot water running 24/7,

  • and even a washing machine and a gym downstairs,

  • and also food can be delivered at your doorstep?
