discussion keeps the world turning.
This is Roundtable.
The biggest climate solution is not a new invention.
It's something that we're already throwing away.
Millions of tons of food wasted every single year is making the planet warmer, but it doesn't have to be this way.
In fact, it's actually one of the simplest fixes that we have.
So if that's true, why are we still so bad at it?
Coming to you live from our studios in Beijing, this is Roundtable.
I'm Steve.
Thanks for sharing your time with us today.
And for the show, I'm with Fei-Fei and Yushan.
First up.
What if the biggest or one of the biggest climate solutions was already sitting in our homes,
in our kitchens to be more exact, uneaten and thrown away?
At this year's International Day of Zero Waste,
food waste is under the spotlight as nearly one-fifth of all food available to consumers
ends up in the bin every single year.
That is a shocking statistic.
And it's not just about what we lose on our plates either.
This waste is fueling climate change.
