Anna Martin: From 'The New York Times,'
I'm Anna Martin.
This is 'Modern Love.'
Growing up,
I loved to watch my parents.
I noticed small things.
Like, whenever my mom would get up from the dinner table,
my dad would stand up, too.
When we watched a movie,
they'd sit next to each other on the couch
so my mom could easily scratch my dad's head.
And when we were in the car,
they'd bicker over each other's driving
and then apologize before we even got out.
It made me think,
OK, this is what a marriage is.
This is what it means to love someone for life.
And I knew that I wanted that someday.
