单集简介 ...

Artificial intelligence is no longer a figment of our imagination a plot pulled from the pages of science fiction. Recent rapid advances mean it is now seeping into ever more aspects of our daily lives. Leading human-rights barrister Susie Alegre has been analysing the concept of what it means to be human within a digital world for years. Her latest book, Human Rights, Robot Wrongs, focuses on where the spirit of humanity will find itself in a near future almost certainly defined by human-like yet empathy-free algorithms made from ones and zeroes. Joining Alegre in conversation for this episode is Head of Programming for Intelligence Squared, Conor Boyle. We are sponsored by Indeed. Go to Indeed.com/IS for £100 sponsored credit. • Coming up on the podcast, Susie Allegre, the international human rights lawyer and author, discusses her recent book, Human Rights robot wrongs being human in the age of AI.

  • It's a startling polemic exploring how the oncoming era of artificial intelligence could threaten many of our fundamental human rights, ranging from the right to free expression to a private life at home.

  • I sat down with Susie to learn more.

  • Hi Susie.

  • Hi.

  • So your book takes a really interesting perspective.

  • In the intro of your book, you say, rather than looking at AI and thinking, what is it and how do we constrain it, you kind of flip that and say, well, what is it to be human and how do we protect that?

  • I just wondered, why did you want to look at the question of AI from the human perspective?

  • I mean, my background is obviously the human rights lawyer, so what it means to be human and how that sort of develops in our societies has been the kind of core element of my career.
