单集文稿 ...

  • Hi there.

  • Welcome back.

  • I'm Harry, and we're helping you, hopefully, with your understanding of English, in particular some grammar aspects through different sentences.

  • And this is geared for those of you who are learning English at around intermediate or just below that level.

  • And as always, if I can help you, please contact me.

  • And I give my details at the end of this particular audio.

  • So I'm going to read a sentence to you.

  • I'm going to read it to you twice.

  • I'm also going to leave a little gap so that you perhaps can practice the pronunciation if you need to.

  • And we'll work on it from there.

  • Okay, so here's the first reading, if you're ready.

  • My grandmother would visit me every Saturday when I was growing up.

  • Second reading, my grandmother would visit me every Saturday when I was growing up.

  • Again, this is a little bit connected with the first two sentences because we're talking about something in the past, but here we're using the expression would visit me.

  • We could say, my grandmother used to visit me.

  • Remember that?

  • From the first reading?

  • Today my grandmother would visit me.

  • We could also say my grandmother used to visit me and would have exactly the same meaning.

  • My grandmother would visit me every Saturday.
