6 分钟Hi there, and welcome to our course.
We've already talked about interviews on a one to one basis.
The normal, standard type of interview where you get invited to somebody's office or to a recruitment agency and, you know, they, as I say, they're quite normal and standard.
And if you've been working, working for a number of years, you've probably had several of those.
But there are other types of interviews and more and more technology is taking over.
So we often hear of people having interviews by telephone or even via Skype.
So sometimes you might receive a telephone call out of the blue, you're sitting in your car, driving the kids to school, or you're about to get ready to go out for a jog.
And if you get an unfamiliar number and when you answer the call, they say, oh, hi, this is Joe Blogg's company.
We would just like to set up an interview with you.
Are you free now?
And you have to be very careful because you might be really anxious to get the job.
But don't just jump into the interview at that stage because you're obviously not ready for it.
You're not set up, you haven't prepared.
So tell them nice and politely, well, I'm really sorry, but it's a little bit easier, inconvenient at the moment because I'm just in the process of taking my children to school or I'm just in the middle of some work or, you know, give them some excuse, but ask them could they reschedule.
And in most cases they will be very understanding and they will say, of course, let's just look at the diaries and they will give you a suggested day or time, and the same will apply if you get an unknown call via Skype, which has happened to me once or twice.
Somebody buzzes you on Skype, you're not quite sure who they are.
I normally don't.
I don't answer those calls on Skype if I don't know them.
But if you do, again, just be very careful who it is and what you say.
Okay?
