  • Hi there.

  • This is Harry.

  • And welcome back to our weekly podcast where we try to give you some help in relation to learning your English to help you to become better english speakers.

  • So, what do I have for you this week?

  • Well, we changed it a little bit.

  • So the first part I'm going to talk to you about is hypothesis.

  • Hypothesis.

  • So, hypothesis is where we make an assumption based on some logic or some reasoning.

  • Okay?

  • So I'm going to give you a few examples of that.

  • So here's the first example.

  • And when we're using hypotheses, there are certain words that are quite appropriate in the english language to use that would indicate that you're hypothesizing on some particular aspect.

  • So hopefully this will be clear in what I give you.

  • So, the first example, speculating for a moment, I think she might be asked her opinion of the current political mess.

  • So the first word we have here is speculating.

  • And this is a real good, strong indication of some hypothesis.

  • So speculating.

  • To speculate means to guess.

  • In this case, the person, perhaps a parent or a friend, is speculating for a moment.

  • Just thinking.
