6 分钟Hi, there.
This is Harry, and welcome back to our podcast, where we try and help you with your understanding of the english language.
What I have for you now are a couple of examples where we use some alternative expressions and they have a specific meaning.
And I'll explain those to you as we go through the two examples.
Okay, so the first one, if I were in your shoes, I think I would resign on the spot.
If I were in your shoes, I think I would resign on the spot.
So when we use this, if I were in your shoes.
Again, we are having.
Having some sort of view, some opinion.
Yeah, we're expressing our opinion, but we're expressing it in slightly different way here.
We're using the conditional tense if I were.
Yeah.
If I were.
Not.
If I was.
When we're using the conditional with if we change was to were.
So it's if I were in your shoes.
So in your shoes means if I was in your place.
Or if I were you is another way to express it.
So if I were in your shoes.
