5 分钟Hi there.
This is Harry, and here's the last podcast of this week where we try to help you with your understanding of english grammar, grammatical issues, and more importantly, to help you improve your conversational English.
So I have three expressions and additional collocations with the word possibility.
Possibility is a chance.
It's not a guarantee because that would be a 100%.
A possibility is something that is less than 100%.
For example, if I look out my window today, there's a possibility that it might rain.
There's a real possibility that it might rain, because when I look out the window, the clouds are dark, the skies are heavy, there's no wind.
So, yeah, there's a real possibility that it might rain, but that might not happen.
So it's not a guarantee.
So what we're looking at then are co locations with the word possibility.
So I can say a definite possibility, a remote possibility or a slight possibility.
There are many others, and you can try and work some out for, for yourself.
So let me give you examples of these.
A definite possibility.
A definite possibility is no reason why something shouldn't happen.
Yeah, there's a definite possibility that I will be visiting your city next week.
And if you're there, why don't we meet up and have a catch up and a bite to eat?
There's a definite possibility that I'm going to get that promotion that I've been aiming for.
They haven't guaranteed it, of course, but it's a definite possibility.
