5 分钟Hi there.
This is Harry, and welcome back to our podcast where I try to help you with your use of the english language, particularly for conversational English, so you can get a better understanding and can communicate to people in a more appropriate or a way that makes you feel comfortable.
So what do I have for you this week?
Well, the first podcast is in relation to know the word no.
And what I'm going to hopefully help you with is how you can say no to requests or invitations so as not to sound rude.
So how can you turn down those requests or invitations?
Of course, you can simply just say no.
And you can say it very emphatically, no or no.
And sometimes people might look on that as a little bit rude.
So what other way can we say it?
Well, quite easily and simply we can just say, no, thanks.
Yeah.
So put a little bit of intonation in no, thanks or no, thank you.
Yeah.
So that's quite easy to do, and it gets the point across and people understand it.
Or you can just say, no, sorry, not interested.
So somebody phoned you or texts you or knocks on your door and they're trying to sell you something, or they stop you in the street and they want you to contribute to something.
Well, of course, then you can just say, sorry, not interested.
And it's another way of saying no.
Or we can say, not really.
