  • Hi there, this is Harry, and welcome to my podcast where I try to help you to understand and use in a better way the english language.

  • So we look at grammar points, idioms, phrasal verbs, expressions, everything that you can possibly think of connected with the language to make you speak it in a better way, understand people in a better way, and be able to communicate.

  • So, what do I have for you in this podcast?

  • Well, as always, I hope it's of interest to you.

  • And we're going to start off in this podcast talking about expressions that you might use when describing yourself in your cv.

  • CV stands for curriculum vitae.

  • Okay, so CV, where you're applying for a particular job.

  • Some people referred to as a resume, which is also possible resume or curriculum vitae.

  • Okay, so these are expressions that will perhaps describe you in a better way so that when you write the description of yourself for the particular role that you have, that people see you as a possible candidate for the job.

  • Okay, so highly experienced.

  • Highly experienced, meaning somebody with lot of experience, a lot of years of experience or experience doing different jobs or specific tasks related to the job that you're applying for.

  • Highly experienced.

  • Proven managerial skills.

  • Proven managerial skills, meaning your skills in managing people or difficult situations are beyond reproach.

  • In the sense proven means you have experience in a management position, you have expertise in that area, and you have, as we say in English, walked the walk.

  • Proven managerial skills, motivated, motivate, motivated to do the job, personal motivation to improve yourself, motivated to make the best of your career.

  • Motivated to make the best of your skills and your experience, and motivated enough to change your particular role.

  • Someone who's innovative.

  • Innovative, meaning someone who comes up with new, interesting and unusual ideas, perhaps in a marketing context.

  • So when you're applying for a marketing job, it might be good to be referred to as, known as, or understood to be innovative.
