  • Hi there.

  • This is Harry.

  • And welcome back to my podcast where I try to help you to get a better understanding of English so that you can communicate in a more effective way when you meet people, either for business or in a social capacity.

  • And I help you through the grammar, idioms, phrases, expressions, lots of other aspects of the english language, hopefully in an enjoyable way.

  • Okay, so what do I have for you in this particular podcast?

  • Well, what we're going to take a look at are some phrases, and in particular, we're going to look at negotiation phrases.

  • Negotiation phrases.

  • So we're going to look at them in a few different ways.

  • Four different headings.

  • How to make a proposal, phrases for compromising, accepting a negotiation proposal and objecting to a proposal.

  • And then in each of those, I'll give you a number of options.

  • So let's first of all look at making a proposal.

  • So here we're going to look at three particular aspects.

  • We'd like to propose that.

  • So, very simple, we'd like to propose that the next meeting is held in your offices so that we can look at your operation.

  • Okay?

  • We'd like to propose that the contract is renegotiated after two years.

  • Okay, simple request.

  • Or we propose, or we suggest that this contract is reviewed or negotiated, or looked at again in detail in two years.

  • So we propose or we suggest that.
