11 分钟Hi there.
This is Harry, and welcome back to my podcast.
And today we're going to talk about problem.
In particular, we're going to talk about other words that mean or that we can use instead of problem or problems in the plural.
We can face problems, we can deal with problems, we can run into problems, we can tackle problems.
But what other words can we use instead of problems?
And all the time we're looking and I'm teaching students about synonyms, trying to find alternative words for their speech, or particularly when they're writing, so that they can get a bit of variety, particularly for exam purposes, because it's important to demonstrate to the examiner that you have a good breadth of vocabulary.
Okay, so let's look at other words specifically to replace the word problem or plural problems.
Okay, so the first one is issue or issues in plural.
Issue is used especially about problems that affect a lot of people in society.
For example, international terrorism is the biggest issue or the most important issue facing the world today.
Previous governments failed to address social issues such as unemployment and homelessness.
Okay?
So they, when they failed to address means they didn't deal with those type of issues.
Social issues such as unemployment, homelessness.
So that's issue or issues.
You can often say to somebody, do.
You have some issues?
Have you got some problems?
Something that you need to deal with?
