16 分钟Hi there.
This is Harry, and welcome back to my podcast, where I try to help you to get a better understanding of English, particularly spoken English, conversational English and business English.
And this particular podcast is the second in a two part series looking at phrasal verbs and particularly those that we use from a business context.
And as I would have said to you in the previous podcast, these can also be used in most cases when you talk about your personal life or other aspects.
But here we're going to focus particularly on the use from a business perspective.
I thought I had some covered in previous material, but it looks as though I didn't.
And this was recommended by one listener, so very happy to bring it to you.
Okay, so as I said, we're going to look at phrasal verbs, in particular those that we can use in connection with business.
Okay, so let's see where we start.
So I'm going to give you a list as always, and then I'll give you an explanation and an example.
Okay, build on, come out of, cut down, hand over something, keep down, look into, pull out, send off, send out, start up, take over, try out, and finally turn around.
Okay, so let's start build on from a business perspective.
We can talk about build on when we want to improve or add something to something that is already there.
So we'd like to build on our past successes.
So we're launching a new product to add to the first product, which was very successful.
We hope to build on all products in the future.
We'll build on the success of our overseas marketing campaign.
It was a great success and has brought many new leads.
So we hope to build on that.
CEO might announce at the company results that that is their objective.
