8 分钟Hi there.
This is Harry.
And welcome back to my podcast, where I try to help you to improve your English and your conversational and business English.
When we look at grammar, other aspects of idioms, and all sorts of things connected with the english language.
And what I've been focusing on recently are sounds and pronunciation.
And this particular podcast is brought to you by the letter h.
In fact, we're going to do two podcasts with the letter h because there are a lot of sounds with it and some silent sounds, which we'll cover in the next podcast.
So, as I said, we're going to look at the letter h.
It happens to be the first letter of my name, but that's just a coincidence.
Let's get started.
H so when we want to make that sound of h, you can hear it.
H it's like the air being pushed out of your mouth when you're out of breath, if you've been running.
I was exercising earlier before the I recorded the podcast, and I was out of breath and I was, that's the h sound, okay?
And if you want to make that h sound, then push a lot of air out of your mouth.
And the sound, as I said, is similar to the noise we all make when we are out of breath.
Now, remember that h sound only happens before one of the vowels.
And the vowels, in case you've forgotten, are a e I o u.
A e I o u.
So let me just give you some of those vowel sounds with the letter h.
Ha.
