12 分钟Hi there, this is Harry, and welcome back to my podcast where I try to help you to get a better understanding of the english language, how to use it to your best advantage in terms of spoken English, whether it be business English or conversational English.
And we help you with grammar, phrasal verbs, expressions, and all sorts of aspects that you will find difficult sometimes on a day to day basis.
So what have we got for you now?
Well, in this particular podcast, we're going to look at some expressions, and the expressions I have for you are those that are related to success.
Okay, so something we all like to talk about or we all like to bask in our success.
Okay, so expressions related to success.
So as always, what I'll do, I'll give you the list and then I'll go through them and I'll give you an explanation.
Now, some of these are quite obvious.
There's no hidden meanings in quite a few of them, so hopefully you should get the meaning from the very beginning.
But I'll give you an example anyway, just to underline the area of success that we're talking about.
Okay, so first one, dress for success.
A howling success.
To be on a short list, that's one word short list.
To be nominated, to be on the winning team in it, to win it.
It's in the bag.
I aced it.
The crest of a wave turned up trumps.
Make a go of it.
And then finally, key to success.
Okay, so there's quite a lot of them there, but some of them, as I said, are fairly obvious.
