13 分钟Hi there, this is Harry, and welcome to the podcast where I try to help you to understand in a little better way the use of the english language, both to help you with your conversational English and perhaps your business English to help you to get that job or to improve your opportunities.
And we try to do that by helping you through the maze of expressions of idioms, grammar, aspects, everything that you could possibly think of, including pronunciation.
That will give you a little bit of assistance.
Okay, so what do I have for you in this particular podcast?
Well, today I'm going to talk to you about expressions using the word out or the preposition out.
So as always, I'm going to give you the list of the expressions that I have, then I'll explain them to you, and where possible, I'll give you a working example that hopefully should help you to understand it a little better.
And as always, at the end, I'll give you the details where you can contact me if you so wish.
Okay, so what have we got?
First, out of fashion, out of luck.
It's Lucy.
Out of this world, out of stock, out of date, out of the box, out of the blue, out and about, out of your mind and out on his own.
Okay, so lots and lots of expressions there using the preposition out.
So let me give them to you one by one, and hopefully you can understand them.
So when something is out of fashion, it means it's no longer in fashion.
Okay?
So clothes that we wear, I'm terrible.
I wear the same clothes for many, many years.
I buy good brands, good makes, but I don't like to change them so often.
And occasionally my wife says to me, what are you wearing that for?
It's out of fashion.
