8 分钟Hi there, this is Harry, and welcome back to my podcast, where I try to help you to get a better understanding of the english language.
And I do that by helping you with your pronunciation, your grammar, your use of English, and of course, conversational English, which is important both in a personal capacity, but also from a business point of view as well.
And if you want to contact me, then I'll give you my contact details at the end of the podcast.
And any of your friends, family, colleagues who you think might appreciate the podcast, well, give them the details.
We're happy to have them come along.
Okay, so what are we going to talk about today?
Well, people's favorite topic, apart from food perhaps, and work, one of their favorite topics about sleep.
Okay, everybody likes to have a good sleep, but not everybody is a good sleeper.
Okay, so we're going to look at sleep expressions, and I've split them into two, good sleep and bad sleep.
Because as I said, not everybody has a good sleep.
Sometimes we'd like to have a better one.
Sometimes we'd have like to have a longer sleep.
Sometimes we'd like to have continuous sleep and not broken sleep.
So I'll give you the expressions and then we'll explain them.
So, good sleep, out like a light, sleep like a baby, sleep like a log.
And then bad sleep, didn't sleep a wink, toss and turn a light sleeper, and to lose sleep over something.
Okay, so we talk about good sleep, out like a light.
Well, when you switch out the light in your room, vroom, it goes dark immediately.
So the idea of being out like a light means that you lie down in the bed, you put your head on the pillow, and as soon as you put your head on the pillow, the next thing you remember is waking up.
So you had a really, really good sleep.
