  • Hi there.

  • Harry here with another podcast, and welcome back.

  • And if you like these podcasts and you have a friend that you think will enjoy them, well, give them the details and we'll be happy to welcome them here.

  • So, our podcasts are aimed at improving your English or conversational English or business English, looking at expressions, grammar and pronunciation.

  • So, what have I got for you today?

  • Well, the particular podcast that we have today is going to look at the word way.

  • I'm looking at different expressions, how to use it, so expressions with way, w a y.

  • Okay, I'll give you the list of them, and then I'll give you some examples and hopefully you'll be able to understand them.

  • My way or the highway?

  • No two ways about it.

  • Have it both ways.

  • The way to go, be in a bad way, have a way with on the way out, talk your way into or out of something wrong way round, work your way up and know your way around.

  • Okay, so plenty of expressions there with way.

  • Let's start with the first one.

  • My way or the highway.

  • Well, this is a wonderful expression that's usually used by people who want to get their own way, and they want to make sure that you do it their way.

  • So they'll say to you, look, I don't care what you say, you do it my way or the highway.

  • And when you say my way, the highway means they point out the window and say, there's the road.

  • If you don't like what I'm saying, you can leave.

  • So it's my way or the highway pointing to the road.
