  • Hi there.

  • This is Harry, and welcome back to my podcast where we try to give you a better understanding of the english language, help you to have better conversations with your colleagues, your friends, apply for that job with that international company, whatever the problem might be.

  • Well, come along here to my podcast and we'll help you to get over them.

  • We look at phrasal verbs, grammar, pronunciation, expand your vocabulary, every aspect of the english language.

  • And as always, if you want to contact me, well, you can do so, and I'll give you the details at the end of this particular podcast.

  • And if you know somebody who you think will get some benefit from it, well, why don't you invite them along to listen?

  • Okay, so what are we going to talk to you about today?

  • Today we're going to talk about verbs and verbs of effort.

  • Of verbs about effort.

  • So I have a number of verbs here with you.

  • Some are more formal than others, and I'll explain those as I go through.

  • And they're all about effort.

  • Effort meaning something you do or something you have to do or something you attempt to do.

  • Okay?

  • And hopefully you'll get some understanding of how to use them.

  • And I'll give you some examples.

  • So here they are, to go ahead with, to cope with, to overcome, to get on with, to tackle, to work on, to focus on, to deal with, to handle and to give up.

  • Okay?

  • And as you'll notice there, we've got prepositions with a lot of them, and a common preposition there is with to go ahead with, to cope with, etcetera.

  • And we'll explain those again as we go through them.
