18 分钟Hi there, this is Harry, and welcome back to my podcast where I try to help you to get a better understanding of the english language so that you can perhaps apply for that job you've always wanted to have with the international company and were a little bit afraid of your level of English or if you wanted to improve your conversational English.
Oh, you want to travel.
Whatever the reason is, I'm here to help.
And if there's anybody that you know would enjoy these podcasts, well, why don't you give them the contact details and I'll give you my details at the end.
Okay, so what are we going to talk about in this podcast?
We're going to look at the word catch, and in particular we're going to look at expressions with the word catch and make sure you pronounce that catch at the end.
Catch.
Okay, so let me give you the expressions and then I'll give you an explanation of each one.
Catch a train or a plane or a bus.
Catch your breath, catch someone's eye, catch the sun.
To be caught in the middle.
That's the past tense of catch.
Catch caught caught in the middle, catch a glimpse of somebody or something, catch somebody's attention, catch someone's interest or imagination, catch somebody off guard, catch somebody with their pants or trousers down, and catch you later.
Okay, so what do these all mean?
Let me give you some examples.
Well, the first one, to catch a train or a plane or a bus is quite simple.
It's just the act of having to go and get your train or your plane or your bus.
Oh, I'm in a hurry.
I have to catch a bus at 04:00 and if I miss that, I'm going to be late home for dinner, or I have to catch a plane in 2 hours and you know what the traffic is like.
So I better jump in that taxi or jump on the metro.
