15 分钟Hi there, harry here, and welcome back to my podcast, where I try to give you a bit of a better understanding feel for the english language to help you with aspects to do with vocabulary and grammar and phrasal verbs and all sorts of other expressions so you can feel more confident with you use it.
So what are we going to talk about today?
Well, we're going to talk about adjectives.
In particular, we're going to talk about adjectives dealing or describing attitude.
People often say that people have an attitude problem, or they have a real attitude problem, and it means how they relate or deal with other people.
So we're going to look particularly at some adjectives describing attitude.
And as always, I'll give you an example.
And at the end of this particular podcast, I'll give you my contact details.
And if you wish to contact me looking for some more information or whatever you have, well, feel free to write.
Okay, so here they go.
Thoughtful, critical, disorganized, unreliable, well organised, irresponsible, sympathetic, competitive, relaxed, and finally, patronizing or patronizing.
Both pronunciations will do.
Okay, so let's go through them one by one and give you a few examples.
So if somebody has a thoughtful attitude, it usually means they are very considerate, they think of other people and they do things or present things or help people in ways that other people might not.
So a simple example would be person who remembers when it is your birthday and presents you with a card or a small gift, or even just congratulations, happy birthday.
Oh, that's very thoughtful of you.
Oh, if you bring flowers to somebody who's sick, you bring a box of chocolates to somebody on Valentine's Day, even though there may be no romantic connection, they would always look at you and think, ah, you're so thoughtful.
You open the door for somebody, you bring somebody a cup of coffee in the morning, all sorts of little ideas, all sorts of little thoughtful gestures to show the person that you care.
Yeah, or you're a caring person.
So to be thoughtful, critical, well, usually when we use the word critical, people automatically assume it's negative.
