单集简介 ...

Today, Adam dusts off his Brexitcast binders as we look at Keir Starmer’s trip to Berlin and his meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Adam chats to Henry about travelling with the prime minister, and what’s in his proposed treaty with Scholz, as well as the snacks he’s been enjoying on the plane. What does Keir Starmer mean when he says ‘reset’? And will a charm offensive with other European leaders follow? And, BBC Europe Editor Katya Adler and Anand Menon, Director of UK in a Changing Europe, discuss Starmer’s relationship with European leaders, and how likely the EU is to negotiate with the UK. • BBC sounds music radio podcasts.

  • Hello.

  • I was away at the weekend on a little mini break, and in the cobbled streets of the cute little town I was visiting, I had an amazing celebrity spot, but it's quite niche.

  • And basically, the only person I can think of who'd be impressed by it is Henry Zeffman, who is on the line.

  • Hi, Henry.

  • I'm worried about where this is going and what it says about what you think of me.

  • Well, I'm worried that you're going to massively upstage me in a second.

  • But my celebrity spot, which is the most newscast celebrity spot you can imagine in East Sussex.

  • Baroness Hallett, chair of the COVID inquiry.

  • That's brilliant.

  • Actually, do you know what?

  • I would have been excited as well.

  • Yes.

  • If only we've been away together.

  • But we couldn't, because you've gone to Germany, and now you're now in Paris.

  • Yes, just arrived in Paris, and I'm speaking to you from the most absurdly opulent, stunningly opulent room in the british ambassador's residence in Paris, which I've just learned courtesy of a very nice person from the british embassy in Paris.

  • This residence was originally owned by Napoleon's sister, of course, and then it was bought off her by the Duke of Wellington, who was the first british ambassador to France.

  • I'm looking at my mind from the embassy, and she's telling me that I've got that spot on, and it is beautiful.

  • And I can see why the british ambassador might quite like to live here.

  • And Keir Starmer has just arrived downstairs, but I told them I had to do newscast, and so I've been shown into a room with ceilings that I think are taller than most buildings I've ever been in.
